Yesterday some of the greatest road cyclists in the world raced against the clock in Vail, Colorado. The third stage of the US Pro Cycling Challenge featured a 10 mile climb, beginning in Vail Village and climbing Old Route 6 up Vail pass. The route is a throw-back to the Red Zinger/Coors Classic races of the 80’s. The day was hot and sunny and the fans were fired up. Levi Leipheimer edged Christian Vande Velde by 0.058 sec and recapture the race leader’s jersey from Tejay Van Garderen. It was really amazing to be in the thick of things trying to get good images. Things got really interesting as the race got down to the leaders and the fans became more raucous.
