County Line BMX…..The race is on

Today the racing at County Line BMX in Englewood, Colorado was in full swing. Young, old and all of the support crews were treated to a fantastic day under sunny skies and on a newly renovated track. Everyone was going for it as the days racing served as a qualifier for state championships to be held later this summer. The track organizers were amazing creating a great day for all.

Earth Day with a Fairy…..just what I needed.

I haven’t posted in a while. I have been focusing much of my work on 12 Dime projects as well as work on Denver Discoveries. I use this blog as my start page and realized that, though I love the last post, it was time to do some personal work.

Again, when looking for a good subject, I need not look far. Elsa and I were due for an adventure as well. It was Earth Day. Elsa wanted to be a fairy. Who was I to argue? Just bring the camera and let her lead.

It worked. Now I can look at these shots and remember a special day with my special girl.

A Flower Girl…..Finally

Well, it has been a long time in the making but our daughter is going to be a flower girl. This has been a dream for her in her short life and now that dream will come true. Her cousin will be married this summer and was kind enough to fold under the pressure and ask Elsa if she was up to the task. Is she ever! Our first step was to go and try on dresses and what better place to go then to our friends at Marie James in Bonnie Brea. Marie James offers a beautiful selection of bridal party gowns and specializes in making each client feel like a princess. Sally and Katie were great and Elsa had a super time trying on everything they offered that was even close to her size. We went on a Saturday that seemed to be pretty busy. All of the other clients were pleased to step away from the mirrors so that Elsa could see how she looked. We found loads of good options and her cousin should have plenty to choose from. What a day for an excited young lady.

Prospect, New Town…..Longmont’s outdoor studio

I love to shoot in Prospect, New Town. Prospect is a little eclectic development on the southeast side of Longmont, Colorado. There are so many options for backdrops. Color, texture, lighting all are abundant and nearby. This proves to be very valuable in a shooting location when your subjects are two young brothers that have a hard time standing still. Needless to say, the boys and the location were a perfect match for my guerrilla style of portrait capture. We covered alot of ground in a short amount of time and got tons of great images.

Denver City Park…..a great place for wonderful portraits

On a recent chilly afternoon I had the opportunity to photograph a great little guy and his family. We met in Denver’s City park and were treated to some fantastic afternoon light. Although it was cold everyone did a great job and we came away with some awesome images. A gigantic flock of Canadian Geese were nice enough to fly over us on-Que to add to the action.

Hall Ranch Portraits…..Lyons, Colorado

I recently had the opportunity to do a super family portrait session at Hall Ranch outside of Lyons, Colorado. I have been to Hall Ranch many times to run, hike and ride my mountain bike but had never photographed there. What a fantastic studio! The open space serves to create unbelievable options in composition and light. All I had to do was turn around and I had great backdrops for my wonderful subjects. As winter approaches and the days get shorter we took advantage of the great glowing light that comes earlier every afternoon to get some great shots.

Boulder Residence…..A beatiful collaboration between Vintage Woods and 12 Dime Design

Vintage Woods, a manufacturer of pre-finished beetle-kill wood products and 12 Dime Design, a reseller of high-end custom home finishes recently completed an awesome project on a custom residence in Boulder, Colorado. The residence was designed by Faye Crowe Architect and built by McCrerey Fine Homes and features siding created from beetle-kill pine with a brown finish. The beetle-kill siding is unique in that the manufacturing process acts not only as a sealer for the wood but also provides a wonderful antique look that reminds of old barn-wood and hides the tell-tale “blue streak” common in beetle-kill pine. The siding is available in barn-red, brown, grey and dark grey. These options create great design versatility and the raw beetle-kill material has the potential to be custom milled for any number of creative uses. The finishes may also be applied to other species of woods including Douglas Fir beams creating the opportunity for use in both interior and exterior truss work.

The project turned out great and the residence and the property made for some beautiful images.

Katie & Brendan…..Wild Basin Lodge

We had a beautiful Sunny September day to celebrate the wedding of Katie & Brendan at Wild Basin Lodge. As always Wild Basin did a fantastic job creating a great event. It is always a pleasure to shoot with Meghan Russell and I thank Dave for the opportunity to be part of such a memorable event. Brigette, of Floral Design of Europe, designed beautiful floral arrangements and Marcy, of Colorado Rose Cake Company, created a beautiful and delicious wedding cake. Jay, of Standing Room Only DJ, was a fabulous MC and kept the dance-floor full. The wedding took place in “The Meadow” and the wonderful weather complimented the moving ceremony.
