Journey’s Backyard BBQ….a HOT stop in Denver

Yesterday I had the opportunity to shoot the Denver stop of Journey’s Backyard BBQ with Plus Size BMX and Six Twenty 4 magazine. The Backyard BBQ is a national tour of some awesome action sports, music and fun. The day was record-breaking hot but the show was even hotter. There were sponsors galore handing out goodies, a battle of the bands  and Etnies team riders getting rad in the pipe, ramps and even a giant pool. The Metal Mulisha put on quite and arial exhibition despite the heat and some strong winds. lots of water, sunscreen and fun.

2012 Teva Slope-style…..a great event with a great assistant.

The 2012 Teva Mountain Games were again held in Vail, Colorado and this year’s Slope-style event was better than ever. The features were bigger and the competitors were ready to make their mark on this stellar event. I was fortunate to have a very patient 5 yr old assistant who’s creativity was impressive as she came up with names for many of the tricks we saw.

I did notice that I was the only photographer shooting the event with a 45lb. child on their shoulders.

Susan G. Komen…..BMX Race for the Cure

Today was a very special day in Denver. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Denver saw about 55,000 people participate in the annual 5k race/walk to benefit breast cancer. Further south, at County Line BMX, about 90 athletes participated in a BMX Race for the Cure. Age groups went from 5 and under to 40+ on a very beautiful but very hot day at the track. At the end of the day there was the normal distribution of race trophies to deserving winners, as well as, awards to the “best pink racer” and the “best pink spectator”. Riders and their fans showed support with pink outfits and decorated bikes. It was a great show of support for a very good cause.

Sarah & Matt…..Four Seasons Resort, Vail

Another beautiful wedding shoot at Four Seasons Resort in Vail, Colorado. It is always a pleasure to shoot a fantastic couple in such a great setting on such a special day. We had some concerns about the weather but, though the clouds did build up, the rain held off until everyone was inside for dinner. Good timing on that. The Four Seasons is a wonderful place to shoot weddings and Vail Village offers such amazing locations to shoot memorable images.

Janeen & Michael…..Della Terra Mountain Chateau

What a great experience….shooting Janeen & Michaels fabulous wedding at the amazing Della Terra Mountain Chateau with Meghan Russell. It was a blast! Again, I was able to shoot for my friend Dave Russell and I couldn’t thank him more.

This wedding venue is awesome. Della Terra, located in Estes Park, Colorado was built for weddings and they got it right. From the ballroom to the preparation rooms, the wedding site to the unbelievably beautiful mountain setting; Della Terra offers photo ops that blow my mind. Every nook and cranny there has great image potential.

Janeen & Michael were fantastic as well. Not only are they a very photogenic couple but they were very excited to have great memories captured through our images. We were all over the place and they were game for anything and everything. Best of all it was very obvious that they were in love and enjoying every moment of their wedding day.

Kerry & AJ…..Wild Basin Lodge

I recently had a great opportunity to shoot a wedding for a fellow photographer and friend, Dave Russell, at Wild Basin Lodge near Estes Park, Colorado. I worked with Dave’s wonderful daughter Meghan who is also a very accomplished photographer and has tons of experience shooting at Wild Basin and around Estes Park. I had never shot there so it was exciting to be at a new site. This is the first of a number of shoots that I will be doing for Dave and shooting with Meghan. The bride  and groom, Kerry & AJ were great and super to work with. The day was spectacular and the subjects and location were beautiful.

Laura & Mike 03.17.2011 Four Seaons, Vail….

I had the opportunity to celebrate a fantastic wedding with Laura & Mike at Four Seasons, Vail. They were a blast to work with and the day couldn’t have been better. We were even gifted with a snow storm during our walk through town.
