Monday mountain bike air…..A couple of pros at Valmont Bike Park

It is really special when a group of friends get together to put on a show at the local bike park. Clayton Shank, a Colorado rider, played host to visiting California pro mountain bikers Jake Kinney James Visser. The audience today, on a quiet Monday at Valmont Bike Park, were a number of us trying to capture fantastic skills and some fortunate local talent. These guys laid it town and tore it up.

Want to volunteer? Better to know what you are getting into.

This is another short post before I put up a full set of images from the Boulder Green Streets Demos. We had a couple of great volunteers that were responsible for trying to maintain order on or small section of east Pearl Street. Little did they know that their responsibilities would include being part of the show! They were great sports and had the honor of getting up close and personal with the mad-skills of pro mountain biker and Woodward West director Jake Kinney.

Go big…..got to pay the price

Today was the Boulder Green Streets and Gromspot, Joe’s Bike Shop & Plus Size BMX came out in force but more on that later. This post is dedicated to pushing limits and raising the bar. The lesson, sometimes things don’t go quite as planned. Little D a six year old ripper wanted to jump someone like the big guys were. Who better then Dad? Well the jump was successful but the landing did not go by plan A. The tough little guy got cleaned up and was a star in the next two shows. Way to go little D. If it was easy everyone could do it.

By the way…the teeth were gone before this trick!

Labor Day Jam…..dirt jump fest at Valmont Bike Park

What a crew on a hot breezy Labor Day at the Valmont Bike Park. The dirt jumpers were out in force and there is no better way to get the best out of a bunch of talented riders than to break out the camera! The boys from Plus Size BMX put on quite a show along with World BMX Champ Collin Hudson and a slew of local talent. Limits were pushed, some successful some not, but it all made for some great shots.

USA Pro Cycling Challenge…..big time bike racing returns to Boulder

Today marked the return of big time bike racing to Boulder Colorado. Stage 6 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge brought a race, the likes of which, had not been seen in Boulder since the days of the Coors Classic. What a day! Over the last five days these riders have climbed to the sky, racing at elevations unmatched in the world. Olympic medal winners, National Champions, Grande Tour Champions and a slew of the world’s best raced through the streets of Boulder to throngs of ecstatic fans. It was a day that will be remembered with awe.

Valmont Bike Park…..what better place to spend a Sunday afternoon

Sunday morning, a quick text and I was off to the Valmont Bike Park in Boulder, Colorado to shoot some great riding. Collin Hudson was home for a day in his busy summer of BMX competition. He is off again tomorrow for more races. Thanks for the show and good luck.

Frisco Bike Park…..going big in the thin air

Located at 9075 feet above sea level in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the Frisco Bike Park is not a place for the faint of heart. Dual slalom courses, loads of jump lines and a pump track for the kiddos make this a place to bring both the family and the bike quiver. A brief stop on a Saturday in August made for some cool images of some locals tearing it up.

Colorado Freeride Festival…..Shimano Slopestyle does it right.

This past weekend Winter Park Resort and the Trestle Bike Park hosted some of the best mountain bike riders on earth for four days of extreme, high-altitude action. I had the opportunity to shoot the Shimano Slopestyle competition for Plus Size BMX and Six Twenty Four Magazine and had a blast. The weather played a bit of havoc but that seems to be normal this summer. At least this time only the competition was hot.

Journey’s Backyard BBQ….a HOT stop in Denver

Yesterday I had the opportunity to shoot the Denver stop of Journey’s Backyard BBQ with Plus Size BMX and Six Twenty 4 magazine. The Backyard BBQ is a national tour of some awesome action sports, music and fun. The day was record-breaking hot but the show was even hotter. There were sponsors galore handing out goodies, a battle of the bands  and Etnies team riders getting rad in the pipe, ramps and even a giant pool. The Metal Mulisha put on quite and arial exhibition despite the heat and some strong winds. lots of water, sunscreen and fun.

Dirt Jump Mania…..Plus Size BMX puts on a huge event at the Lyons Outdoor Games

WOW! That is the perfect way to describe the show that the riders, organizers and fans put on at this year’s dirt jump event at the Lyons Outdoor Games. The boys from Plus Size BMX and a bunch of local riders built a masterpiece at the Lyons dirt jump park and the competitors came to play. It was an event to remember to say the least.

The competition was fierce from the amateurs to the pros all to be topped off by a best trick session that should go down in history. The wind was howling, a 40 year old man threw a 720 and a flip-whip stole the show. It was hard to edit all of the super images down to even this many. All in a days work.
